Anton Gryzlov

Russia

Music for the ballet “Sakura” was written by Anton Gryzlov in 2016 It is not Anton's first experience of using elements of Japanese music in his creative work: earlier, in 2002, he wrote the symphonic suite “Tsushima”. Later on he studied Japanese music at Berklee College of Music in Professor Allen LeVines's class, that enabled him to continue his experiments at a higher professional level and was used in the TV serial “The Medal”. Anton graduated from Berklee College of Music with a professional diploma in two majors: composing and film scoring, studying with amazing musicians, composers and professors: Julius Williams, Elena Lucas, Claudio Ragazzi, Andrew List, Sheldon Mirowitz, Tom McGah, Dennis Leclaire, Allen LeVines, Richard Davis and many others. Anton composed numerous pieces in contemporary classical style, including his 1st symphony "War and Love", string quartets, as well as a piece for two strings quintets, music for trios and other chamber ensembles. The first Anton Gryzlov’s symphony was finished and recorded with an excellent American conductor, professor of conducting and composition Julius Penson Williams and Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra in Prague, 2015 In spite of the fact that symphony has a traditional four movements form, Anton used different composer techniques: exotic scales, a form of the raga for the second theme in the 1st movement, mixing of tonal and atonal music, asymmetry, etc. Also, he has been writing award-winning music for films and television, working for the major production companies: Russia 1, Petersburg – 5th channel, Red Square, Russian World Studios (RWS), Intra Communication, Green Film, Russkoe Film Company, Film.UA Group and Glasscore, LA, USA. His very first film was the famous award-winning documentary "Horse Encyclopedia" filmed by Alexander Nevzorov. In 2003, Anton was commissioned by the government of Saint Petersburg to write music for the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Saint-Petersburg (in collaboration with a composer Sergey Banevich) in 2003, and for the great water- firework outdoor show “Scarlet Sails” on the Neva River in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2015 years. Nowadays, Anton Gryzlov is one of the new generation composers who are able to work in different music genres and styles, using not only traditional composer techniques but also modern music technologies.
