Dj Valer

Dj Valer (Valeriy Tsarkov) is a creative DJ and the creator of the Vintage House musical style. He holds three higher degrees (Moscow Conservatory, Paris Conservatory, and the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music) and serves as a music producer for a record company. With profound knowledge of music theory and history, mastery of contemporary compositional techniques, experience performing in leading Russian orchestras, and uncompromising academic training, he brings a unique blend of scholarship and artistry to his work. He is the author of the hit “Rio-Rita,” which burst onto Moscow radio waves in 2006 and received airplay abroad. The track synthesizes the familiar “Rio-Rita” melody with dance and jazz elements. Drawing on classical, jazz, and modern compositional approaches—and informed by analysis of works by Stockhausen, Reich, Terry Riley, and Tiberius Olah—Dj Valer showcased his virtuosity on piano, saxophone, and clarinet in his debut album, “Dj Valer. Retro Noize.” It was released on August 26, 2006 at the inaugural NuNote Lounge Fest at the Arkhangelskoye Estate Museum, where it met with triumphant success. His meticulous sound design, genre fusion, polyrhythms, and improvisation—delivered with absolute accessibility and subtlety—define the listening experience of his compositions. Today, Valeriy Tsarkov is a sought-after music producer whose work features in many well-known films and TV series.
