Melodic Easy Listening
Melodic Easy Listening (literally "easy listening" including mood music) is a genre of popular music and radio format that was most popular in the 1950s and 1970s. The genre mainly focuses on music that predates the rock and roll era, which is characteristic of the music of the 1940s and 1950s. It differed from the beautiful music format, which was mostly instrumental, in its variety of styles. Music in the easy listening genre is often confused with lounge music, but although it was often popular in the same places, it was intended to be listened to for pleasure rather than as background sound.
